Notorious Drug Peddler Liyakat Ali Booked Under PIT NDPS Act.

Jammu: — In a significant move to combat drug trafficking, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have apprehended Liyakat Ali, a notorious drug peddler, under the PIT NDPS Act. Ali, son of Hussan Mir and a resident of Sikanderpur Kothey in Bishnah, Jammu, has been detained and lodged in District Jail Udhampur.
As part of Operation SANJEEVANI, the police secured formal detention orders from the Divisional Commissioner of Jammu. Ali, known for his involvement in drug smuggling, operated primarily from the Chitta hotspot of Bishnah police station. His arrest aims to disrupt the main supply chain of drug peddling in the region.
Despite multiple FIRs against him and repeated bail grants, Ali continued his illicit activities. His persistent involvement in promoting drug abuse among local youth prompted the authorities to recommend his detention under the PIT NDPS Act. The Divisional Commissioner, Jammu, subsequently issued a warrant for his arrest.
The arrest operation was conducted by a team from P/S Bishnah, led by SHO P/S Bishnah, Abid Bukhari under the supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura NikhilGogna, SP HQ Jammu Irshad Hussain and Dr Vinod Kumar-IPS, SSP Jammu. The local community has lauded the police efforts in tackling drug smuggling and making strides in controlling drug abuse in the area.
