Kisan Goshti Camp at Shashukul Village, Durbuk Sub-Division
A Kisan Goshti Camp was successfully organized at Shashukul Village of Durbuk Sub-Division by the team from the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Office (SDAO), Leh, with the active participation of local farmers.
During the programme, Mr. Mohd Ramzan, SDAO Leh, delivered a comprehensive training session on Natural Farming, focusing on the preparation and application of Jeevamrit and Beejamrit. He also conducted demonstrations on Low Tunnel Technology and Mulching Techniques for watermelon and summer squash cultivation under the harsh climatic conditions of Changthang. These interventions were introduced on a trial basis to encourage farmers to adopt innovative and climate-resilient farming practices.
Ms. Tsering Dolkar, AEO, Leh provided a detailed overview of Ladakh Greenhouse cultivation practices, highlighting their origin, significance, and role in enhancing vegetable production in the region. She also elaborated the benefits and application of Micro Irrigation Techniques under the PMKSY-PDMC scheme.
Ms. Kunzang Dolma, AEO, Kharu delivered an informative session on Organic Farming, emphasizing its importance, environmental benefits, and future prospects for sustainable agriculture in Ladakh.
Ms. Chimet Lhamo, AEO Durbuk apprised the participating farmers of various departmental schemes and programmes being implemented by the Agriculture Department for the welfare and development of the farming community.
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion, where farmers shared their experiences and raised queries regarding modern agricultural practices. The camp proved to be highly beneficial in enhancing farmers’ awareness and promoting sustainable agricultural technologies in the region.
