New Delhi:In a significant revision impacting businesses, the price of 19 kg commercial LPG cylinders has been increased by ₹993 with effect from today. Following the hike, the cost of a single cylinder in Delhi now stands at ₹3,071.50, according to official sources.
The steep increase is expected to put additional financial pressure on restaurants, hotels, and other commercial establishments that rely heavily on LPG for daily operations. Industry experts suggest that the rise may lead to higher food prices as businesses attempt to offset increased operational costs.
In contrast, domestic LPG cylinder prices have remained unchanged, offering relief to household consumers. The decision indicates a continued effort by authorities to shield residential users from inflationary pressures.
Meanwhile, aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices for domestic airlines have been kept unchanged. State-owned oil companies, including Indian Oil Corporation, have opted to absorb the recent increase in global fuel prices. The move is aimed at supporting the aviation sector and preventing a potential rise in airfares.
The dual approach—raising commercial LPG prices while stabilizing ATF and domestic LPG rates—reflects a balancing act by policymakers to manage inflation while safeguarding key sectors of the economy.
