Srinagar: In a significant move to ensure the smooth conduct of the revered Kheer Bhawani Mela, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo convened a comprehensive meeting on Wednesday, engaging key figures from the civil administration and the Police Department. The annual festival, set to take place on June 14 at Tulmulla in the Ganderbal district, sees a large influx of devotees, necessitating meticulous planning and coordination.
During the high-level meeting, Chief Secretary Dulloo underscored the importance of close cooperation between the Divisional Commissioners and the Relief Commissioner. He stressed the need for a unified approach to deliver a pleasant and seamless experience for the yatris (pilgrims). Dulloo directed that all necessary arrangements, including transportation, accommodation, power, water, sanitation, medical aid, and security, must be impeccably in place.
Dulloo specifically emphasized the provision of adequate amenities for the comfortable stay of the yatris at the shrine and along their route. He instructed the district administration to conduct an on-spot assessment of the existing facilities, identifying any additional requirements promptly.
A focal point of the discussion was the arrangement of buses for the devotees’ journey and the condition of the roads leading to the shrine. Dulloo also reviewed the accommodations for night stays and the provision of essential supplies to ensure the Mela proceeds smoothly. Notably, he highlighted the importance of de-silting the canal flowing through the temple complex and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
Comprehensive Overview by Divisional Commissioner
Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, presented an exhaustive overview of the measures taken by his administration so far. He outlined the facilities established for the transportation and accommodation of yatris, highlighting arrangements at the Central University campus and other nearby locations.
Bidhuri further detailed the traffic management plan, medical aid, power supply, water provision, sanitation, and disaster management strategies in place. Representatives from various departments, including Police, Housing and Urban Development, Rural Development, Tourism, Health, and Transport, also briefed the meeting on their respective preparations.
The meeting saw the attendance of several high-ranking officials, including the Divisional Commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu, Additional Chief Secretary, Jal Shakti; Principal Secretary, Power; ADGP Headquarters; ADGP Law & Order; ADGP; Commissioner Secretary, Housing; Commissioner Secretary, Tourism; Director Fire & Emergency Services; Secretary Rural Development Department; IGP Kashmir; Director Tourism, Kashmir; Director Health, Kashmir; Director Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, and representatives from JKRTC, Roads and Buildings Department, among others.
Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) from various districts, along with several outstation officers, participated in the meeting online, ensuring a broad and inclusive discussion.
The meticulous preparations and coordinated efforts led by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo aim to provide a smooth and enriching experience for all devotees attending the Kheer Bhawani Mela. With comprehensive planning covering all essential aspects, the administration is poised to ensure that this year’s festival is conducted with the utmost efficiency and care.
