Workshop on archival box-making and archival binding organized at Department of Archives, Archaeology, and Museums, Leh
Leh, December 7, 2024: A workshop on archival box-making and archival binding was recently organized by Department of Archives, Archaeology, and Museums in Leh. This initiative was conducted as part of the ongoing archival conservation efforts in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi. The primary objective of the workshop was to provide practical training and skill enhancement for current staff members of IGNCA involved in archival conservation work in Leh.
The session aimed to equip participants with the technical expertise required for creating customized archival boxes and bindings. These skills are essential for the long-term preservation and protection of valuable archival materials, ensuring their stability and accessibility for future generations. By focusing on hands-on training, the workshop emphasized the importance of using appropriate materials and techniques that align with international standards of conservation.
