Khaltsi, September 21, 2026: The two-day State-Level Archery Competition commenced today at the Cricket Ground, Khaltsi, with the participation of young archers representing seven districts of Ladakh.

The competition is being organised as part of the celebrations of National Sports Day 2026 and Youth Engagement Month (August 29–September 29, 2026), with the objective of promoting sports, encouraging youth participation and providing young athletes with opportunities to showcase their talent.

The competition was inaugurated in the presence of Sh. Ataullah Khan, I/C SDM Khaltsi, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The event is being organised by the Youth Services & Sports Department, Leh, with the objective of promoting archery and providing talented young sportspersons with an opportunity to showcase their skills at the state level.

A total of seven teams, comprising five boys’ teams and two girls’ teams, are participating in the competition, representing different districts of Ladakh.

The competition commenced at 9:00 AM on September 21, 2026, and will continue for two days. The participating archers are competing in a spirit of discipline, sportsmanship and healthy competition.

The event is being conducted under the supervision of Sh. Issa Ghulam, ZPEO Khaltsi, along with officials and technical staff of the Youth Services & Sports Department.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts of the Youth Services & Sports Department in providing sporting opportunities to young athletes. He encouraged the participants to demonstrate their best performance while maintaining the true spirit of sportsmanship.

The competition aims to identify and encourage promising archery talent from across Ladakh and provide athletes with valuable competitive exposure at the state level.

It is pertinent to mention that the tournament is being organised with the full support of Save the Children. Sh. Mohd Shar Bhat, Director, Save the Children, was also present at the venue throughout the day and extended his support to the event and its participants.
