Ramban : Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ramban, Arun Gupta, JKPS, today presided over a Thana Diwas at Halla, aimed at addressing public grievances, enhancing community policing and further strengthening police-public relations.
The programme witnessed active participation from local residents, youth, members of Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), civil administration officials, Village Defence Guards (VDGs) and members of the local Peace Committee.
During the interaction, SSP Ramban gave a patient hearing to the issues and concerns raised by the participants. He assured the public that all police-related grievances would be addressed in a time-bound manner, while matters pertaining to the civil administration would be promptly taken up with the concerned departments for necessary action.
Focus on Cybercrime and Drug Abuse
The SSP urged residents, particularly the youth, to remain vigilant against the growing threat of cybercrime and online financial frauds. He advised victims of cyber fraud to immediately report such incidents through the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 to facilitate timely action and recovery efforts.
He also called upon citizens to actively cooperate with the police in combating the drug menace and encouraged them to report information regarding drug peddling through 1933 or 9419696730. He assured that the identity of informants would be kept strictly confidential.
Emphasis on Emergency Response and Road Safety
SSP Arun Gupta stressed the importance of using Emergency Helpline 112 during any emergency situation. He also urged motorists and commuters to strictly follow traffic rules, particularly while travelling on the challenging and accident-prone hilly routes of the district.
Emphasising the importance of timely medical assistance to accident victims, he called for injured persons to be shifted to the nearest hospital within the Golden Hour under the RAH-VEER scheme, wherever applicable.
Peace Committees and VDGs Asked to Remain Vigilant
The SSP also interacted with members of the local Peace Committee and emphasised the need for continued cooperation in maintaining communal harmony, peace and social cohesion in the area.
Interacting with Village Defence Guards, he directed them to maintain a high degree of vigilance in their respective areas and maintain close coordination with the nearest police posts to ensure prompt sharing of information and an effective response to any security concern.
The Thana Diwas concluded with local stakeholders reaffirming their cooperation and support to District Police Ramban in maintaining peace, security and public safety. The initiative reaffirmed the commitment of Ramban Police towards responsive policing, public participation and stronger community-police coordination.
