SOG Jammu Arrests Three Alleged Khauf Gang Members, Including Man Wanted in 13 FIRs

Jammu: The Special Operations Group (SOG) Jammu has arrested three alleged members of the “Khauf” gang, including a key accused wanted in connection with 13 FIRs, during a coordinated operation conducted in Delhi, police said on Wednesday.
The arrests were made as part of an ongoing drive by Jammu Police and the SOG to trace absconding criminals and dismantle organised criminal networks operating in and around Jammu.
Addressing a press conference, SSP Jammu Joginder Singh briefed the media about the operation and appreciated the professional and coordinated efforts of the SOG team in successfully tracing and apprehending the accused from Delhi. He said the operation was carried out with careful planning and supervision as part of the police effort to bring absconding criminals to justice.
The overall supervision of the operation to trace and apprehend the absconding criminals was carried out by SP Operations Jammu Mohan Sharma, under whose direction the SOG team worked to locate and arrest the accused.
Main accused arrested from Delhi
The principal accused has been identified as Karanjit Singh alias “Gugga,” son of Arjun Singh, a resident of Dablehar, Tehsil R.S. Pura. According to police, Singh was wanted in connection with 13 FIRs registered in different cases.
Police said he is an accused in the Gataroo murder case and has also been named in cases involving allegations of attempt to murder, assault, rioting, criminal intimidation and possession of illegal weapons.
Police further stated that Karanjit Singh had earlier escaped from the R.S. Pura Observation Home along with two Pakistani inmates. During the escape, police personnel deployed on duty were allegedly assaulted, and firing reportedly took place inside the Observation Home, resulting in injuries to personnel.
In connection with the incident, FIR No. 39/2026 was registered at Police Station R.S. Pura, police said.
Two associates also apprehended
During the same operation, SOG Jammu also apprehended two other alleged associates of the gang from Delhi.
The arrested persons have been identified as:
Naresh Kumar alias “Major,” son of Kamal Kumar, resident of Arnia. Police said he is associated with the gang and has been involved in cases relating to violent assault, rioting and alleged illegal possession of weapons. He is also stated by police to be a close associate of absconder Sunil Kumar alias “Gokul.”
Rahul Kumar alias “Sundi,” son of Bishan Dass, resident of Makhanpur, Bishnah. According to police, he is involved in a case concerning the alleged smuggling of narcotics into jail premises and has been booked under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and the Prisons Act.
Police said the arrests are part of sustained efforts to identify, trace and apprehend absconders and to investigate the activities of organised criminal networks operating in the Jammu region.
The SOG Jammu, under the supervision of senior officers, carried out the operation after developing leads regarding the whereabouts of the accused in Delhi. The successful arrests, police said, reflect continued efforts to pursue criminals who have been evading arrest and to strengthen action against organised criminal activity.
Further investigation into the cases is underway. Police said that more arrests may follow as evidence and additional leads emerge during the course of the investigation.
