Jammu :In a significant development, the Jammu and Kashmir Sant Samaj Nayas Trust expressed strong discontent over the government’s alleged attempts to form committees for monasteries, temples, and boards overseeing major pilgrimage sites, such as Maa Chandi Mata Mandir, Narsingh Mandir Ghagwal, Sukrala Mata Mandir Billawar, and Bawe Wali Mandir, with members aligned to its own interests. The meeting, held on Sunday at Baba Surgal Dev Mandir Narwal under the Bahu Vidhansabha constituency, was presided over by Mahant Mohan Bharti and had Mahant Rajesh Bittu, the Organization General Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Sant Samaj Trust, as the chief guest.

Mahant Rajesh Bittu, addressing the gathering, criticized the government for its apparent interference in the administration of religious institutions. He stated that the Sant Samaj strongly condemns these decisions, which are perceived as an encroachment on the autonomy of religious bodies and an attempt to exert political influence over sacred sites.

The meeting also discussed the various challenges faced by the Sant Samaj and strategies to address these issues before the government. In response to the current situation, the Sant Samaj announced the organization of two significant events to voice their concerns. A grand program is scheduled for September 5 at Chhan Road Mahamaya Temple, followed by a massive Sant and Hindu conference on September 11 at Shri Radha Krishna Temple, RS Pura, on the occasion of Radha Ashtami.

The gathering was attended by prominent religious leaders and figures, including Mahant Jasmer Jangam, Mahant Atma Das Ji, Vikram Mahajan from Kalki Sena, Mahant Manoj Giri, and Mahant Banwari Giri Ji, who collectively voiced their apprehensions about the government’s actions.

The upcoming events are expected to draw significant attention, as the Sant Samaj seeks to rally support against what it views as governmental overreach into religious affairs.
