Health Department and Helpage India Organize Mega Health Camp in Basgo
Leh, 16 May 2025: The Health Department, in collaboration with Helpage India, organized a Mega Health Camp cum Free Eye Screening and Spectacle Distribution Camp, along with a Mobile Medical Unit Camp, in Basgo to provide essential healthcare services at the community’s doorstep.
The Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Councillor of Basgo Constituency, Tsering Nurboo, also graced the event. A team of specialists from SNM Hospital, along with Dr. Yangchen Dolma, District Health Officer Leh, and other concerned officials, were also present.
BMO Leh, Dr. Norboo Angchuk, welcomed the attendees and introduced the team of specialists, which included Dr. Lobzang Dawa (ENT Specialist, SNM Leh), Dr. Stanzin Angmo (Gynaecologist), Dr. Jigmet Wangchuk (Orthopaedic Surgeon), Dr. Zahid Manzoor (Dental Surgeon), Dr. Motup Angmol (Ophthalmologist), Dr. Savita Dabas (Gynaecologist), Dr. Rinchen Dorjey (Medical Officer, Helpage India), and Dr. Tsultim Dorjey (PHC Thiksey), along with their assistants and a nutritionist.
Deputy Chairman, LAHDC Leh, Tsering Angchuk, inaugurated the camp and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in improving healthcare accessibility, especially for individuals unable to travel due to work or distance. He urged the local residents to make full use of the services provided.
Councillor of Basgo Constituency, Tsering Nurboo, expressed his gratitude to the medical team and emphasized the significance of having specialists visit the region. He encouraged all residents to take full advantage of the camp for timely medical check-ups.
The event offered a wide range of medical services and aimed to raise awareness about the importance of early diagnosis and regular health check-ups among the beneficiaries of Basgo village.
