H’CEC Tashi Gyalson Launches SMS-Based Power Billing System in Leh
Leh, May 01, 2025:
In a major step towards digital governance and improved public service delivery, the Ladakh Power Development Department (LPDD) today launched an SMS-based power billing system for electricity consumers in Leh district. The system was formally inaugurated by the Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Leh, Advocate Tashi Gyalson, at the Council Secretariat.
The launch event was attended by Hon’ble Executive Councillors Tashi Namgyal Yakzee, and Stanzin Chosphel; Chief Engineer (LPDD) Tsewang Paljor, GM Project RECPDCL Dr. Aparup Paul, Senior Project Manager of Inventive Software Solution Prabhat Kumar Singh, senior representatives from LPDD, RECPDCL, Polaris, Inventive Technologies, and Market Buzzer Teleservices.
The new SMS-based system is designed to deliver timely alerts to consumers regarding electricity bills, payments, disconnection notices, and reminders after the bill due date. The initiative complements the recent installation of smart meters across Leh and aligns with the government’s broader push for Smart Grid development.
During the event, a detailed presentation was given by Inventive Software Solution highlighting the features and benefits of the system. Consumers can also use the “Ladakh Bijlee” mobile app to check their billing and consumption history, make payments, apply for new connections, and register complaints with real-time resolution tracking.
H’CEC Tashi Gyalson described the initiative as a significant milestone in Ladakh’s digital journey, especially given the region’s remote and challenging terrain. He directed concerned officials and implementing partners to ensure the smooth rollout of the system and address consumer grievances promptly.
