PM Modi To Virtually Address Sansad Khel Mahotsav Culmination On December 25; Dr Jitendra Singh Reviews Preparations
Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office, Dr Jitendra Singh on Sunday reviewed preparations for the culmination of the Sansad Khel Mahotsav, scheduled to be held across the country on December 25, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to address the mega event virtually.
Dr Jitendra Singh held a virtual coordination meeting with Deputy Commissioners and Members of Legislative Assembly from the Udhampur–Kathua–Doda Lok Sabha constituency to ensure seamless planning and execution of the concluding event. The culmination will be organised simultaneously across Assembly segments with the active involvement of district administrations, MLAs and Members of Parliament.
The minister said the Sansad Khel Mahotsav, which began on August 25, 2025, has been conceived as a large-scale, pan-India initiative aimed at promoting grassroots sporting talent and advancing the vision of a fit, healthy and sports-oriented India under the Fit India Movement.
He directed officials to remain prepared for different execution models, including district-level and constituency-level formats, and to identify suitable venues with assured connectivity and adequate infrastructure, keeping in view the Prime Minister’s virtual address.
Highlighting the long-term objectives of the programme, Dr Jitendra Singh said the initiative is intended to build a sustainable sports ecosystem across the country. He instructed that details of winners at the Panchayat, Block, District and higher levels be uploaded promptly on designated portals to facilitate identification and support of promising athletes for advanced training and future opportunities.
The minister also noted that December 25 marks Good Governance Day and the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and encouraged districts to align local programmes with these national observances to enhance public outreach.
Officials informed the meeting that the culmination events will see participation from local youth, sportspersons, community representatives and eminent personalities from the sports sector. The programmes will be organised under the “MY Bharat” framework with support from the Ministries of Youth Affairs and Sports, Culture and Education, along with district administrations.
Calling for close coordination among all stakeholders, Dr Jitendra Singh said the culmination of the Sansad Khel Mahotsav should emerge as a model national event, reflecting the government’s commitment to promoting sports culture, nurturing young talent and strengthening the Fit India Movement across the country.
