Merger of MS Leh with Government Girls Higher Secondary School Lch.
Leh. October 17, 2025: In a significant step towards strengthening the education system in accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Middle School (MS) Leh has been merged with Government Girls Higher Secondary School (GGHSS) Leh in the presence of the Administrative Secretary. Along with this, few other schools across the district have also been merged with nearby higher or senior secondary schools to ensure efficient use of resources, improved academic management, and better learning outcomes.
This merger initiative is part of the school rationalization process under NEP 2020, which encourages the establishment of school complexes and clusters to promote resource sharing, stronger academic support, and inclusive education for all students.
The merger of MS Leh with GGHSS Leh will provide students access to enhanced learning facilities. qualified teaching staff, and a wider scope of curricular and co-curricular activities. Similarly, the merger of other schools across the district will ensure that no student is deprived of quality education due to limited infrastructure or staffing.
Addressing the gathering, the Secretary, Department of School Education, Leh, highlighted that this initiative is a progressive step towards realizing the vision of NEP 2020. She commended the local education authorities for their efforts in implementing reforms that promote quality, equity, and holistic development in education.
The Chief Education Officer (CEO), Leh, in her remarks, appreciated the cooperation of school heads and teachers in facilitating the smooth execution of the merger process. He stated that the move will bring greater academic coordination, optimum utilization of resources, and better opportunities. for both students and teachers in the district.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Kunzang Dolma, Principal, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Leh, who expressed gratitude to the Secretary, the CEO, and all quests and staffs for their guidance and support. She reaffirmed the school’s commitment to upholding the goals of NEP 2020 and providing an environment that nurtures academic excellence, discipline, and innovation among students.
