JAMMU: A massive fire erupted today in the Gupta Towers at Bahu Plaza, which houses several offices including financial institutions and insurance companies. Upon receiving the emergency call, a quick response was initiated by the Bahu Fort Police Station, led by SP South Ajay Sharma, in coordination with the Fire and Emergency Services Department.

Police teams, assisted by SDPO East and SHO Bahu Fort, swiftly reached the site. However, the operation faced challenges due to thick smoke, making the task of extinguishing the fire difficult. Despite the hazardous conditions, the priority was to rescue those trapped inside the building.

A critical rescue was carried out by SP South and the police team, who led from the front, risking their own safety to save numerous individuals, including a woman trapped on the third floor. The team used an emergency escape ladder to bring those affected by smoke inhalation to safety. The operation was personally supervised by SSP Jammu.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, and an investigation is underway. The timely and professional response of Jammu Police and the Fire Department has been widely praised by the local public, who commended their bravery and dedication in evacuating trapped staff without regard for personal risk.
