Massive Clean-Up Drive Conducted at Devachan Road by MC Leh and CII Foundation.

Leh, April 5, 2025:
A large-scale one-day clean-up drive was successfully organized at Devachan Road by the Municipal Committee Leh in collaboration with the CII Foundation. The initiative brought together a strong team of around 60 sanitation workers and volunteers, including personnel from all SRMC centres under MC Leh, the Kharu SRMC centre, as well as supervisors, drivers, and staff from both organizations.
The cleanup operation covered a stretch of approximately 5–6 kilometers, starting from the T-point at the end road of Mahabodhi to the driving test venue road in Devachan. During the operation, an overwhelming amount of illegally dumped waste was discovered—including clothes, plastics, construction and demolition debris, manure, expired FMCG commodities in bulk, and sanitary waste.
Despite the scale of the problem, the dedicated team managed to remove or cover the insurmountable quantity of waste using one large dumper, two refuse compactor vehicles, and a JCB.
Municipal authorities emphasized that strict action will be taken against individuals or entities found guilty of illegal dumping. Heavy penalties will be enforced in the near future to curb irresponsible waste disposal practices and protect the local environment.
