Jitendra Singh To Address 2nd National Workshop On Pension Litigation In New Delhi On July 18

Union Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Jitendra Singh, will address the plenary session of the 2nd National Workshop on Pension Litigation in New Delhi on July 18.
Organised by the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW), the workshop will be held at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre and will bring together nodal officers, panel counsels from various ministries and departments, legal experts, and senior government officials to discuss ways to minimise pension-related litigation.
The workshop aims to build consensus among stakeholders on improving pension litigation management through better coordination and by identifying recurring issues that often result in legal disputes.
According to the Department, differences in the interpretation of pension rules, delays in the disbursement of pensionary benefits, family pension-related issues, and disparities in pensions among beneficiaries of the same category are some of the key factors leading to litigation. The workshop will focus on addressing these issues through effective administrative and legal measures.
The plenary session will be addressed by Attorney General of India R. Venkataramani, Secretary (Pension) Nivedita Shukla Verma, Secretary (Law) Dr. Rajiv Mani, and Secretary (ESW) Sukriti Likhi.
The event will also feature distinguished speakers, including Additional Solicitor General Vikramjit Banerjee, Principal Chief Controller of Accounts (Home) Ajay Shanker Singh, and senior Delhi High Court panel counsels T. P. Singh and Avshreya Rudy.
The one-day workshop will comprise two technical sessions and a plenary session focusing on improving coordination among ministries and strengthening mechanisms for timely resolution of pension-related issues.
The Department had organised the first National Workshop on Pension Litigation on July 2, 2025, which was attended by more than 300 nodal officers and panel lawyers representing various ministries and departments. The second edition seeks to build on those deliberations to further reduce avoidable litigation and ensure more efficient delivery of pension-related benefits.
