Jammu Police and MKD Foundation Hold PCPG Meeting with Gujjar Community in Mandal Village.

Jammu : In a significant community engagement initiative, the Jammu Police, in collaboration with the MKD Foundation, conducted a Police Community Partnership Group (PCPG) meeting today in the village of Thalwal, Phallain Mandal, near the International Border.
The meeting, chaired by SP City South, Jammu, Shri Ajay Sharma, JKPS, saw the participation of over 100 Gujjar families along with members of the MKD Foundation. Key topics of discussion included communal harmony, drug abuse, general area alertness, police-public cooperation, and community policing.
During the meeting, SP Sharma highlighted the current security scenario and threat perceptions, especially given the village’s proximity to the International Border. He also discussed preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and emphasized the role of community policing in maintaining regional peace and security. SP Sharma urged the community to strengthen police-public relations and cooperate in eradicating all forms of crime. He briefed the attendees on issues such as drug abuse, bovine smuggling, and recent attacks by anti-national elements in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
The community was encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the police promptly. Contact information for jurisdictional officers and the Police Control Room (PCR) was shared with the participants to facilitate quick communication. Emphasis was placed on sharing information about individuals involved in drug peddling or other criminal activities.
Community members assured their wholehearted participation in eradicating the drug menace and committed to maintaining strict vigilance on any suspicious movements in the area. Gujjar community leaders and foundation members appreciated the efforts of SP South in strengthening police-public connections.
The meeting concluded with a positive note of appreciation for the Jammu Police’s efforts. The Gujjar community members pledged their support to act as the eyes and ears of the police in this strategically important border area. IC PP Phallain Mandal, SI Harish Kumar, was also present at the event.
This PCPG meeting underscored the importance of community involvement in ensuring security and fostering a cooperative environment between the police and the public.
