Jammu Hosts AICOI’s 46th Annual Celebration: Lifetime Achievement and J&K Ratan Awards Bestowed

JAMMU: The 46th Annual Celebration of the All India Conference of Intellectuals (AICOI) was held with great fanfare at the Amar Singh Club in Jammu. The event, centered on the theme “Peace, Humanism, and Nationalism,” brought together eminent personalities from across the country to discuss these crucial values and to honor those who have made significant contributions in various fields.
Inaugural Session and Key Discussions:
The event began with a warm welcome address, with Dr. S.P. Vaid, the Former Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu & Kashmir, as the Chief Guest. His presence underscored the importance of the theme, emphasizing the need for peace, humanism, and nationalism in today’s world. Distinguished guests included Justice Rajesh Tandon (Retd.) and Subash Gupta, Former District & Sessions Judge and Member of the Public Service Commission (PSC). Prakash Nidhi Sharma, Advocate at the Supreme Court of India, delivered an introductory lecture, providing context for the discussions that followed.
Notable speakers like Dr. P.P. Singh, Advocate G. Venkatesh Subbarao, journalist Sohail Kazmi, and others, including Avinash Choudhary, Advocate D.S. Chauhan, and Advocate Uma Kapahi, further elaborated on the theme. They highlighted that nationalism is intertwined with the values of peace and compassion, which are essential for unity and progress.
Awards and Recognitions:
A key highlight of the event was the award ceremony, where distinguished individuals were honored for their contributions to society. The Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Dr. S.P. Vaid for his outstanding service and reformative approach during his career in the police force. The selection committee, led by Hon’ble Lt. Gen. K.M. Seth, Former Governor, and comprising Justice Rajesh Tandon (Rtd.), Dr. P.L. Gautam, Former DG of the Forest Research Institute, Dr. S. Farooq of Himalaya Wellness Company, and Smt. Anushri, Co-Convener of AICOI, made this unanimous decision.

The proceedings were gracefully conducted by Maskeen Kour Wazir from the University of Jammu, and the event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Nitan Sharma.
