Indian Army Rescues Two Stranded Villagers in Rugged Changthang Terrain

Punguk, April 5, 2025:
In a remarkable act of swift response and bravery, the Indian Army successfully rescued two community members of Punguk village who were stranded in the treacherous terrain of the Changthang region.
The individuals, Mr. Tsering Damdul (55) and Ms. Tsering Dolma (28), met with an accident while traveling from Koyul to Punguk. With no contact or information about their whereabouts, their worried family members, along with local community representatives, approached the Indian Army at Punguk around 10:10 PM.
Acting promptly, the Army launched a late-night search and rescue operation in the extreme high-altitude region. At 12:39 AM, their vehicle was located near Narbula Top at a staggering height of 17,328 feet. Both individuals were found stranded for over four hours in freezing temperatures, suffering from mild hypothermia and frostbite.
Immediate medical aid was administered on-site by the Army personnel, and they were safely brought to the Medical Aid Post at Punguk by 2:10 AM. The Army Medical Team continued their treatment, stabilizing both individuals, who are now in stable condition under close supervision.
The quick action and coordination by the Indian Army saved two lives, reaffirming their unwavering commitment to the welfare of local communities in remote and challenging terrains.
