India To Name Squads For T20 World Cup 2026 And New Zealand Series On Saturday: BCCI
India will name their squads for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup and next month’s white-ball series against New Zealand on Saturday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said.
With less than two months to go before the T20 World Cup, the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee will meet at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai to finalise the squad for the global tournament. The selectors will also announce the team for the home series against New Zaland, which includes three one-day internationals and five Twenty20 internationals.
“The Senior Men’s Selection Committee will meet on Saturday to pick India’s squad for the T20I series against New Zealand and the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup,” the BCCI said in a statement, adding that a press conference will follow, addressed by captain Suryakumar Yadav and chief selector Ajit Agarkar.
India are currently playing a five-match T20I series against South Africa at home, with the final match scheduled in Ahmedabad on Friday.
India will host New Zealand from January 11 to 31 ahead of the T20 World Cup, which begins on February 7 and will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The tournament will feature 20 teams playing across eight venues over 29 days.
Defending champions India have been drawn in Group A alongside the United States, Namibia, the Netherlands and former winners Pakistan. They will play their group matches in Mumbai, Delhi, Ahmedabad and Colombo, and open their campaign against the USA in Mumbai.
India won the men’s T20 World Cup in 2007 and are bidding to become the first team to successfully defend the title.
