SRINAGAR:Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, Sh. Sujit Kumar Singh, IPS, felicitated the Srinagar Police team for successfully busting an organised inter-state narcotics trafficking network operating in Downtown Srinagar.
The police action followed an extensive investigation into FIR No. 135/2026 registered at Police Station Safakadal, which led investigators to uncover a wider network involved in narcotics trafficking, with linkages extending beyond Jammu and Kashmir.
The Srinagar Police team, led by SSP Srinagar Dr. G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, IPS, was recognised for its sustained and professional investigative efforts in tracing the network and identifying its key associates and financial channels.
Among the officers felicitated were Zonal SP Sh. Showkat Ahmad and SDPO M.R. Ganj Junaid Wali, besides the SHOs and Investigating Officers of Police Station M.R. Ganj, whose coordinated efforts played a significant role in unravelling the organised network.
Eight accused arrested
According to police, the investigation resulted in the arrest of eight accused persons and the recovery of huge quantities of narcotic substances, cash, gold and other valuable assets worth crores of rupees.
The investigation further brought to light the inter-state dimensions of the narcotics operation, including financial channels allegedly being used in connection with the organised drug-trafficking network.
IGP lauds investigative efforts
While felicitating the team, IGP Kashmir Sujit Kumar Singh, IPS, appreciated the professionalism, dedication and sustained efforts displayed by the Srinagar Police personnel during the investigation.
The IGP encouraged the officers to maintain the momentum against organised crime and narcotics trafficking, with particular emphasis on dismantling the networks behind the supply and distribution of illegal drugs.
Police officials said the case demonstrates the importance of sustained investigation in tracing not only the immediate accused but also the larger criminal infrastructure and financial mechanisms supporting organised narcotics trafficking.
Focus on financial networks
The investigation has also highlighted the police’s increasing focus on the financial infrastructure of drug trafficking, including the identification and seizure of assets and other valuables allegedly connected with the narcotics trade.
Srinagar Police reiterated that action against drug trafficking would continue with a focus on identifying the complete chain of the network, tracing its inter-state linkages and targeting the financial resources that sustain organised narcotics operations.
Srinagar Police reiterates zero-tolerance approach
Reaffirming its commitment to combating the drug menace, Srinagar Police said it remains determined to dismantle drug-trafficking networks and take stringent legal action against persons involved in the narcotics trade.
The police maintained that investigations would continue to establish the full extent of the network and its associated financial and logistical channels.
