Govt. Degree College, Nobra Celebrates Bhoti Language Day

Nubra, April 1, 2025 – The Debate and Seminar Committee of Govt. Degree College, Nobra, under the chairmanship of Principal Dr. Tsewang Motup, celebrated Bhoti Language Day starting from 27th March 2025 and culminating on 1st April 2025.
On the opening day, Principal Dr. Tsewang Motup spoke about the importance of preserving the Bhoti language and expressed concern over the younger generation drifting away from it, calling it a deeply unfortunate trend. He urged students to incorporate the Bhoti language into their daily lives to help preserve and promote it. Dr. Motup also emphasized that learning Bhoti could enhance students’ personal development, employability, and skill-building. He shared examples of how knowledge of the language could open doors to brighter opportunities for students in the future.
A quiz competition on the theme “Exploring the History of Bhoti Language” was then organized. A total of eight students, forming four teams, participated, showcasing their knowledge and understanding of the language. Team A was declared the winner, while Team B secured the runner-up position.
On the second day, i.e., 29th March 2025, a speech competition was conducted on the theme “Role of Bhoti Language in Preserving Cultural Identity.” All students actively participated, with Zara Batul and Zanskit Dolma of the 4th semester securing first and second positions, respectively.
On 1st April 2025, Bhoti Language Day was marked by a Calligraphy Competition in Bhoti Script, where Zara Batul and Zanskit Dolma once again secured first and second positions, respectively.
In the end, winners of the competitions were felicitated by Dr. Tsewang Motup, Principal of Govt. Degree College, Nobra, with khataks, as a token of appreciation for their efforts in promoting and preserving the Bhoti language.
