Baramulla :Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police, North Kashmir Range, Baramulla, Dr. Vinod Kumar (IPS), on Wednesday conducted a comprehensive review of the security scenario, crime situation, and ongoing anti-drug initiatives in District Baramulla under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.
Upon his arrival, the DIG was warmly received by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla along with other senior officers. A detailed review meeting was subsequently held at the District Police Lines (DPL) Baramulla, where officers briefed him on the prevailing law and order situation, emerging crime trends, and operational preparedness across the district.
The meeting was attended by all Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Deputy Superintendents of Police (DySPs), Station House Officers (SHOs), and other officials, who presented jurisdiction-wise updates. Discussions focused on measures undertaken to maintain peace and curb criminal activities.
A key highlight of the review was the intensified crackdown on drug trafficking and illegal pharmaceutical practices. The DIG appreciated the proactive efforts of Baramulla Police in tackling the drug menace, particularly strict action against unlicensed chemist shops and the unlawful sale of medicines.
He directed officers to further strengthen enforcement mechanisms, carry out regular inspections, and ensure that such illegal activities are effectively eliminated.
Emphasizing public safety, Dr. Vinod Kumar called for enhanced coordination among units, increased vigilance, and intelligence-driven operations to prevent untoward incidents. He also stressed the importance of sustained public awareness campaigns to educate youth about the dangers of drug abuse.
Reiterating a zero-tolerance approach, the DIG affirmed that Baramulla Police will continue firm action against drug peddlers and law violators. He urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies and report any suspicious or illegal activities to help maintain peace and order in the district.
