DIET Leh Conducts Orientation Programme to Strengthen National De-worming Day Implementation

The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET)Leh in collaboration With Health Department Leh successfully organized a one Day Orientation Programme to sensitize educators about the upcoming National De-worming Day scheduled for 25th of March 2026.
The Programme was conducted under School Health and Wellness Programme, a joint initiated of the Ministry Health and Family Welfare and the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The primary objective of the workshop was to strengthen health education and promote the holistic well-being of students across government and private school in the district.
The orientation focused on the creating awareness about the Deworming and its significance in improving child health. Dr. Rinchen Angmo , State Nodal officer NHM from SNM Hospital Leh, addressed the participants and sensitized them to key health issues related to worm infections. The session also emphasized the importance of Iron and folic acid supplement, prevention of anemia and maintaining overall nutritional health among school children. She also talks about Anemia Mukht Bharat.
The Programme commenced with formal welcome address by the Principal, DIET Leh, Shri.Mirza Medhi, who warmly welcomed the distinguished guest speaker Dr. Rinchen Angmo and the participant including School Health and Wellness Ambassadors from both government and private schools. In the address, the Principal encouraged all the participants to ensure and effective implementation of the program in their respective schools so that students can derive maximum health benefits.
Later, Mz. Tsering Angmo Lecturer, DIET Leh conducted an informative session on the Guidelines of Health and Wellness program and on the 11 modules of the School Health and Wellness Program, also she emphasizing practical strategies for effective implementation at the school level.
In this workshop 64 school Health and Wellness ambassadors from various government and private schools participated, making the Programme engaging and impactful.
The one-day orientation Programme was successfully coordinated and conducted by Mr. Dawa Tsering District coordinator RKSK along with Ms. Tsering Angmo Lecturer DIET District Coordinator (School Health and Wellness Program) from Education Department.
The orientation concluded with collective commitment to ensure the successful observance of National De-worming Day and to promote a healthier, more informed community.
