DC Minhas Takes Stock of Public Issues, Development Works at Indri-Pargwal Block Diwas

PARGWAL: Deputy Commissioner Dr Rakesh Minhas reviewed public grievances, developmental demands and the status of key infrastructure and public service issues during a Block Diwas programme held at Indri, Pargwal.
The programme provided local residents and representatives an opportunity to raise issues directly with the district administration, with discussions focusing on connectivity, flood management, educational infrastructure, healthcare services and other developmental concerns.
A key issue raised during the interaction was the Indri-Pargwal Bridge, with the public seeking its early completion. Dr Minhas assured that the administration would closely monitor the progress of the project and facilitate its timely completion. He emphasised the importance of the bridge in improving connectivity and easing the movement of people and essential services.
The Deputy Commissioner also reiterated that channelisation of the Chenab remains a prime focus area of the district administration. He stressed the importance of coordinated and sustained efforts towards the execution of channelisation and associated flood-management measures, particularly in view of the concerns of people living in areas adjoining the river.
Reviewing the status of the GDC Jourian building, Dr Minhas directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to complete all pending civil works within a definite timeline. He called for close monitoring of the remaining works so that the required infrastructure is made available for the benefit of students and faculty without further delay.
Healthcare-related concerns were also taken up during the Block Diwas. On the issue of staff availability at the Community Health Centre (CHC), the Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned Block Medical Officer (BMO) to take up the matter with the competent authorities and ensure that adequate manpower is made available for the smooth functioning of the health facility.
Dr Minhas directed the concerned officers to accord priority to genuine public grievances and ensure effective follow-up on the issues raised during the programme. He emphasised that public grievances should be addressed through coordinated departmental action and within reasonable timelines.
The Deputy Commissioner further stressed the importance of regular monitoring of developmental works, inter-departmental coordination and efficient delivery of essential public services. He reiterated the administration’s commitment to strengthening people-centric governance and ensuring that development projects are executed in a time-bound manner for the benefit of the local population.
The Block Diwas served as a direct interface between the administration and the people of Indri-Pargwal, enabling the district authorities to assess ground-level requirements and issue directions for addressing key developmental and public service concerns.
