Jammu : In a major step towards making the city cleaner and greener, the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has launched the “Clean Jammu, Green Jammu” campaign. Under this ambitious initiative, around 40,000 saplings will be planted across different parts of the city. To ensure the successful implementation of the campaign, JMC Commissioner Devansh Yadav (IAS )chaired an important meeting with officials and reviewed a comprehensive plantation action plan.

During the meeting, special emphasis was laid on promoting environmental conservation, carrying out large-scale plantation drives in various areas of the city, and ensuring active public participation. The Commissioner directed officials to ensure that the plantation drive is not treated as a mere formality and that proper care and maintenance of the saplings are carried out regularly.

As part of the campaign, saplings will be planted in parks, along roadsides, in government institutions, schools, and other public places. Plans are also being made to involve local residents, social organizations, and youth groups so that the objective of transforming Jammu into a clean and green city can be achieved through collective efforts.

It was also decided during the meeting that a special plantation drive will be conducted during the monsoon season to ensure better growth and survival of the saplings. Officials have been instructed to set ward-wise targets and complete the work in a time-bound manner.

Speaking on the occasion, Devansh Yadav said that “Clean Jammu, Green Jammu” is not just a campaign but an initiative aimed at strengthening the city environmentally. He also appealed to citizens to actively participate in the drive by planting more trees and taking responsibility for their care.

The Municipal Corporation believes that the campaign will not only enhance the beauty of the city but will also play a significant role in pollution control and environmental protection.
