Chief Electoral Officer, Ladakh, Chairs Meeting with Political Parties on Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls
Ladakh, 5th November 2024 – Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Ladakh, Sh. Yatindra M Maralkar, IAS, chaired a follow-up meeting at the CEO Ladakh Office with representatives of political parties regarding the ongoing Special Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls. The meeting was held to update stakeholders following the recent publication of the draft electoral rolls on 20th October 2024.
During the meeting, it was conveyed that the draft electoral roll for the 1-Parliamentary Constituency in the Union Territory of Ladakh, aligned with the Special Summary Revision with 1st January 2025 as the qualifying date, has been published as of 29th October 2024. The draft roll is available at designated locations and has also been uploaded on the CEO Ladakh website, www.ceo.ladakh.gov.in, in accordance with the schedule approved by the Election Commission of India.
As per the Special Summary Revision, the period for filing claims and objections will run from 29th October to 28th November 2024. Additionally, two Special Campaign days have been scheduled on 9th-10th November and 16th-17th November 2024. The disposal of claims and objections is expected to conclude by 24th December 2024, with the final Electoral Roll set for publication on 6th January 2025. To oversee this revision process, Ms. Padma Angmo, IIS, Commissioner Secretary of UT Ladakh, has been appointed as Roll Observer.
The draft Electoral Roll will be accessible for public scrutiny at polling stations used in the last Parliamentary Constituency election and at the offices of the Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers throughout Ladakh from 29th October to 28th November 2024.
All eligible citizens of Ladakh are encouraged to review the draft electoral roll. Those whose names are not listed or who will reach the age of 18 by 1st January 2025 are urged to apply for inclusion in the Electoral Roll following the prescribed process. For further assistance, citizens may contact the Electoral Registration Officer (ADC, Leh) or their respective Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (Tehsildars).
Political parties were requested to promptly bring any issues related to the summary revision to the attention of the Roll Observer, CEO Office, DEO Office, or the ERO to ensure a smooth and accurate revision process.
