NEW DELHI:Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on Friday, called for heightened collaboration among security and law enforcement agencies to dismantle terror networks and their support systems. Leading a high-level meeting, Shah directed heads of various security, intelligence, and law enforcement organizations to adopt a comprehensive “whole-of-the-government” approach towards national security.
During the meeting, Shah conducted a detailed review of the Intelligence Bureau’s Multi Agency Centre (MAC), which plays a critical role in addressing the country’s security challenges. An official statement highlighted Shah’s emphasis on greater synergy among agencies to effectively tackle the evolving security threat landscape. He stressed that MAC has earned the trust of its constituents and should continue to operate 24/7, facilitating proactive and real-time sharing of actionable intelligence among various stakeholders, including last-mile responders.
Shah urged participants to enhance their engagement with MAC, transforming it into a cohesive platform that integrates law enforcement, anti-drug, cybersecurity, and intelligence agencies. This integration aims to enable decisive and prompt action against security threats. He also proposed the creation of a team of young, technically proficient officers from all involved agencies. This team would utilize big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning-driven analytics to dismantle terror ecosystems.
The home minister reiterated the necessity for security agencies to remain one step ahead in responding to new and emerging security challenges. He highlighted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the MAC framework is set to undergo a significant technical and operational revamp to boost its reach and effectiveness. Shah urged all stakeholders to support these efforts with prompt responses and aggressive follow-up on shared intelligence inputs.
The high-level meeting also reviewed the overall internal security situation in the country and ongoing efforts in the fight against terrorism. Shah’s directives reflect the government’s commitment to strengthening national security through enhanced synergy and advanced technological integration among agencies.
Shah’s focus on modernizing and streamlining the country’s intelligence and security apparatus underscores the government’s proactive stance in addressing complex and evolving terror threats.
