Jammu : In preparation for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu, Mr. Anand Jain, IPS, convened a high-level meeting to review the comprehensive arrangements for the Yatra. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the police and security forces, as well as all District Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and Range Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs).
ADGP Anand Jain emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to ensure the safety and security of the pilgrims. He underscored the need for meticulous planning and the execution of security measures to address any potential threats and challenges. A significant portion of the discussion focused on the security provisions for pilgrims during their stay at the base camp of Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu and other lodging centers.
One of the key highlights of the meeting was the establishment of joint control rooms for better and closer coordination between all agencies involved in the Yatra. ADGP Jain stressed that these control rooms are crucial for ensuring the smooth conduct of the Yatra, facilitating real-time communication, and quick response to any issues that may arise.
The discussions covered a wide range of issues including security arrangements, intelligence sharing, traffic management, medical and emergency services, infrastructure, and logistics. Ensuring robust security protocols to protect pilgrims from any threats, enhancing the flow of information between agencies to preempt and mitigate risks, and strategizing to manage the high influx of pilgrims, including traffic regulation and parking facilities, were major points of focus. The review also included plans for adequate medical facilities, emergency services, and disaster management to address health-related issues and emergencies. Ensuring that all necessary infrastructure and logistical support are in place for the pilgrims’ convenience was another critical area of discussion.
ADGP Jain stressed the significance of maintaining a high level of vigilance and preparedness throughout the duration of the Yatra. He instructed officials to conduct regular reviews and drills to ensure that all plans are effectively implemented. Strategies to manage the expected high influx of pilgrims, including traffic regulation, parking facilities, and emergency response measures, were thoroughly reviewed.
