In a significant spiritual transition that marks a new chapter for the Radha Soami Satsang Beas (RSSB), the renowned spiritual organization on the banks of the Beas River near Amritsar has announced its new leader. On Monday, the RSSB revealed that its long-serving head, Gurinder Singh Dhillon, has nominated Dr. Jasdeep Singh Gill as its new patron and Sant Satguru, an appointment that will have immediate effect starting from September 2, 2024.
The announcement was made by RSSB Secretary Devender Kumar Sikri, who confirmed that Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon, also known as Baba Ji, had formally designated Jasdeep Singh Gill as his successor. “Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon has nominated Jasdeep Singh Gill, son of Sukhdev Singh Gill, as the patron of Radha Soami Satsang Beas Society with immediate effect,” Sikri said. “Jasdeep Singh Gill shall also succeed Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon as the Sant Satguru of the Radha Soami Satsang Beas Society and will have the authority of giving initiation (naam).”
This nomination comes after years of devoted leadership by Gurinder Singh Dhillon, who took over the mantle of Sant Satguru following the passing of his predecessor, Huzur Maharaj Charan Singh Ji. Sikri added that Baba Ji has expressed his profound gratitude for the unwavering support and affection he received from the sangat (congregation) during his tenure. He further requested that the same love and dedication be extended to Jasdeep Singh Gill, who will now carry the torch of spiritual service for the global Radha Soami community.
RSSB, a spiritual sect rooted in the fundamental beliefs found across various religions, places immense importance on the teachings of a living spiritual master, a tradition that will now be upheld by Jasdeep Singh Gill. The organization, which has millions of followers worldwide, encourages selfless service, meditation, and the pursuit of spiritual awakening under the guidance of the Sant Satguru.
Jasdeep Singh Gill’s ascent to this revered role follows an illustrious career in the world of science and corporate leadership. At 45, he boasts an impressive academic and professional background, with a PhD in chemical engineering from the University of Cambridge and a master’s degree from the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Gill completed his undergraduate and master’s degrees in biochemical engineering and biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, making him a brilliant mind in his field.
Gill’s corporate journey began with global pharmaceutical giants, including a notable tenure at Ranbaxy, where he served as executive assistant to the CEO. He also held key leadership roles at Cipla Limited, one of India’s largest pharmaceutical companies, where he worked as Chief Strategy Officer and senior management personnel from 2019 to May 2024. His professional reach extended to cutting-edge biotech startups, such as Achira Labs Private Limited and Ethris, where he acted as a board observer, and Wealthy Therapeutics, where he was a board member until March 2024.
Despite his deep involvement in the corporate world, Jasdeep Singh Gill has now embraced a life dedicated to spiritual leadership. With his nomination as Sant Satguru, Gill has effectively relinquished his corporate roles, stepping down from Cipla and other positions to focus entirely on guiding the RSSB sangat in their spiritual journey.
For the millions of Radha Soami followers worldwide, this change in leadership represents continuity and renewal. The sect’s core teachings will continue under the stewardship of a highly educated and spiritually conscious leader who has been entrusted with the revered responsibility of spiritual mentorship. The baton now passes to Jasdeep Singh Gill, a man of profound knowledge and humility, whose scientific mind will blend seamlessly with his spiritual role as Sant Satguru.
The announcement signals a harmonious blend of modern education and traditional spiritual values. As RSSB prepares to move forward under Gill’s guidance, there is an air of optimism and reverence for the new Sant Satguru, who, with his vast experience and spiritual conviction, is poised to lead the sangat with wisdom, compassion, and unwavering commitment to selfless service.
