Crisil Foundation organised a Financial Literacy Awareness Programme at Chemday Kharu
Kharu, June 11, 2026: Crisil Foundation, in collaboration with LRLM Ladakh organized a Financial Literacy Awareness Programme at Chemday Kharu. The programme was conducted by CFL Kharu in coordination with NRLM and Shri Subin Kundal, Manager & Lead District Officer, RBI Jammu.
The camp witnessed the gracious presence of Shri Subin Kundal, Manager RBI RO Jammu, SDM Kharu Shri Shabir Ahmad, AGM NABARD Shri Tsewang Dorjay, Director RSETI Leh Shri Prem Bodh, Lead District Manager Leh Shri Phuntsog Angchuck, DDC NABARD Mr. Tundup DPM NRLM Ms. Aasiya Tabasum, DMM NRLM Mr. Wasim Akram, Area Manager CFL Project Mr. Bilal Bhat, and officials from several banks JK Bank Chemday, SBI Kharu, PNB Kharu, and SBI Sakti.
A total of 80 participants, including members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and the local community, actively engaged in the programme. Officials from concerned departments sensitized participants on:
The regulatory role of the RBI
Customer rights and grievance redressal mechanisms/ombudsman
Financial products and services offered by banks and line departments
Government-sponsored social security and employment generation schemes
Cyber fraud prevention and safe digital banking practices
Use of grievance redressal channels for timely resolution of issues.
CFL staff Kharu delivered detailed presentations on PMJJBY, PMSBY, APY, and SSY, KYC, Re-KYC explaining enrolment processes and benefits. Awareness was also created on credit facilities under KCC, PMEGP, and NRLM schemes, as well as the importance of adopting digital banking channels for secure and convenient transactions.
Participants were urged to remain vigilant against online frauds, phishing attempts, and unauthorized electronic transactions, and were guided on the RBI’s framework for limiting liability in such cases. The session also emphasized the role of grievance redressal mechanisms, customer helplines, and Ombudsman schemes in safeguarding consumer interests.
This Awareness camp was part of CFL’s ongoing mission to saturate financial literacy/Inclusion, digital awareness, and social security schemes across villages in Ladakh, ensuring rural households and farmers are integrated into the formal financial system with confidence and security.
Crisil Foundation currently operates seven CFLs in Leh district, covering all blocks under the ages of DEA Fund, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), and FIF–NABARD, with support from State Bank of India (SBI), supervised by the Lead District Manager, Leh.
