Bandipora Police Seize Over 2 Kg Charas, One Arrested During Naka Checking

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Bandipora Police intercepted a Tata Mobile vehicle during routine naka checking at Captain Mode in Ketson area of Bandipora, leading to the recovery of a substantial quantity of contraband.
Officials reported that during the search operation, approximately 2.06 kilograms of a suspicious substance was recovered from the vehicle. The substance was later confirmed as charas by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Basharat Mumtaz Turk, a resident of Ketson, was immediately taken into custody. Police officials stated that the contraband was seized and sealed on the spot in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses, adhering to all legal formalities.
Authorities have registered a case under relevant sections of law, and statements of witnesses have been recorded. Further investigation is currently underway to ascertain the source of the narcotics and to identify possible links in the broader drug trafficking network.
Police reiterated their commitment to intensifying anti-drug operations across the district to curb the menace and ensure public safety.
