Sitharaman To Engage With Youth From Across India After Union Budget 2026–27

Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Nirmala Sitharaman, will interact with around 30 college students from across the country following the presentation of the Union Budget 2026–27.
As part of the initiative, the students will witness the live presentation of the Union Budget from the Lok Sabha Gallery on February 1, 2026, giving them a rare opportunity to observe one of the most important Parliamentary proceedings of the year firsthand.
The participating students represent diverse academic backgrounds, including commerce, economics, medical education and vocational studies, and come from various States across India.
The programme also includes a visit to the Ministry of Finance at Kartavya Bhawan-1, where students will interact with senior officials to gain insights into the functioning of the Ministry, policy formulation processes, and the role of institutions in nation-building.
Later in the evening, Sitharaman will engage with the students in an open and interactive discussion on the key priorities of the Union Budget, its long-term vision for India, and its implications for the youth. The students will also share their ideas, perspectives and aspirations, offering their views on issues concerning young citizens and the nation.
The initiative aims to promote greater awareness among students about finance, economics, governance and democratic processes, while encouraging informed and constructive participation of youth in India’s financial and Parliamentary framework.
During the preparation of the Union Budget 2026–27, inputs were sought from citizens, including the youth, through multiple platforms. These consultations are expected to be reflected in the forthcoming Budget.
