Samba : In a significant success against organized crime, Samba Police have arrested two notorious gangsters from the Ramgarh area and recovered illegal arms, ammunition, narcotics, and a sharp-edged weapon from their possession. The arrests come amid increasing efforts by law enforcement agencies to curb criminal networks operating in Jammu province.
How the Operation Unfolded:
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police officials in Ramgarh received a tip-off that two gangsters—Pritam Singh alias Sethi, son of Mohan Singh, a resident of Jerda, Ramgarh, and Narayan Sharma alias Shunna, son of Brita Lal, a resident of Thalori, Vijaypur—were present at the house of Anoop Singh alias Makhan in Ramgarh. The duo was suspected of planning a heinous criminal act and was reportedly in possession of illegal firearms and drugs.
In response, a special police team led by the SHO of Police Station Ramgarh, under the guidance of SDPO Vijaypur and the overall supervision of SSP Samba, launched an operation and raided the premises. The police successfully apprehended the two gangsters before they could execute any criminal activity.
Seized Items: Weapons, Ammunition, and Narcotics
During the raid, the police recovered:
✅ One .32 Bore Desi Pistol
✅ Seven live Rounds of Ammunition
✅ A Sharp-Edged Weapon (Tokka)
✅ 8.13 grams of Heroin-like Substance
✅ A Mahindra Thar SUV (Registration No. JK21J-0024), which was seized
The duo was immediately taken into custody, and a case has been registered at Police Station Ramgarh under FIR No. 17/2025, invoking multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Arms Act, and the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The Gangsters’ Criminal Record and Possible Larger Links:
Preliminary investigations have revealed that both accused individuals have a history of criminal activities with multiple cases registered against them in different districts of Jammu province, including Samba.
Authorities are now probing whether the accused are linked to a larger criminal syndicate operating in drug trafficking, illegal arms smuggling, or contract killings. Their arrest could potentially lead to more disclosures about organized crime networks in the region.
Security Implications and Ongoing Investigations:
The arrests come amid increasing concerns about the rise in organized crime, drug trade, and illegal possession of weapons in the Jammu region. The use of illegal firearms and heroin-like substances suggests a dangerous intersection of drug mafias and criminal gangs operating in the area.
Police sources indicate that the investigation will focus on:
• Tracing the source of the illegal weapons and whether they were smuggled from outside the Union Territory.
• Investigating the supply chain of the narcotics recovered from the accused.
• Identifying other associates or gang members who may be involved in organized criminal activities.
Police Reiterate Commitment to Crime Control:
This successful operation highlights the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s relentless efforts in tackling crime and ensuring public safety. Senior police officials have reaffirmed their commitment to curbing drug-related offenses, organized crime, and illegal arms possession.
With a zero-tolerance approach towards criminal elements, law enforcement agencies are likely to intensify operations against gangs, drug peddlers, and arms suppliers in the coming months.
The swift action taken by the Samba Police in this case has prevented a potentially serious criminal act, reinforcing the importance of community cooperation and intelligence-based policing in the fight against organized crime.
Further investigations are underway, and more arrests are expected as police widen their probe.
