JAMMU : Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition, is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir next week, where he will engage in discussions with professionals from various sectors. This interaction, aimed at addressing the key challenges faced by professionals in the region, will take place on September 25 in Jammu. Organized by the Jammu and Kashmir unit of the All India Professionals’ Congress (AIPC), the event, titled ‘Dogri Dham’, offers a unique platform for local professionals to share their concerns directly with a national leader.
According to Sanjay Sapru, head of AIPC’s J&K unit, this meeting marks a pivotal moment for professionals in the union territory, as it offers them the chance to present their perspectives on vital issues such as economic development, employment, and industry-specific challenges. Sapru emphasized the significance of the event, highlighting that professionals’ voices will now be heard at the national level, as their ideas and concerns are integrated into discussions on Jammu and Kashmir’s future.
After the Jammu meet, a similar gathering will be held in Srinagar, though the date is yet to be finalized. Gandhi’s involvement with these communities demonstrates his recognition of the role professionals play in shaping the region’s development.
In addition to these meetings, Gandhi is set to lead Congress’s campaign efforts for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, which are taking place after a 10-year hiatus. His campaign trail includes a series of public rallies, starting with a rally on September 23 in Srinagar’s Shalteng constituency, in support of J&K Congress president Tariq Hamid Karra. On September 25, Gandhi will address another rally in Jammu, aimed at bolstering support for Congress candidates in the region.
Earlier this month, Gandhi had already kick-started the Congress campaign with two rallies on September 4 in Ramban district and Anantnag. These rallies were held in support of former J-K Congress leaders Vikar Rasool Wani and G.A. Mir, marking the beginning of Congress’s efforts to reassert its presence in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape.
With the upcoming meetings and public rallies, Gandhi’s visit is expected to energize the Congress campaign and provide a much-needed platform for professionals in Jammu and Kashmir to contribute to the region’s future.
