Widespread Rainfall Expected Across Multiple States
Weather forecasts indicate significant rainfall across several regions of India over the next few hours, with some areas likely to experience intense downpours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for multiple states, warning of potential thunderstorms and lightning.
Vidarbha, particularly the districts of Bhandara, Chandrapur, Nagpur, and Wardha, is expected to see light to moderate rainfall, with occasional spells of intense precipitation.
Similar conditions are anticipated in Telangana, southern Madhya Pradesh, Saurashtra and Kutch regions, southern Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, northern Tamil Nadu, and the northeastern states of Assam and Meghalaya.
The IMD also forecasts light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in other parts of Vidarbha (including Gadchiroli, Gondia, Yavatmal, and Amravati), Marathwada, Konkan, Kerala, Karnataka, and the remaining areas of Northeast India and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal.
Meanwhile, a depression over the Bay of Bengal was observed centered near Chilika Lake, approximately 40 km south-southwest of Puri, Odisha, as of 5:30 AM IST on July 20. Meteorologists predict that this system will move west-northwestwards across Odisha and Chhattisgarh, gradually weakening over the next 24 hours.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to stay updated with local weather reports and take necessary precautions. Authorities may issue further advisories as the situation develops.
