VC Prof. Saket Kushwaha Inaugurates Micro Irrigation Training at UoL, Stresses Expansion to Remote Areas
Feb 22, 2025:- Vice Chancellor, University of Ladakh, Prof. Saket Kushwaha, graced the inaugural session of the one-week training program on Micro Irrigation Systems (February 22–28, 2025) and the valedictory function of the Precision Agriculture Technology training under the Precision Farming Development Centre (PFDC). The training program is sponsored by the National Committee on Precision Agriculture & Horticulture (NCPAH) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare (MoA & FW), Government of India (GoI) and is being held at the School of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, University of Ladakh, Stakna, Leh Campus.
Prof. Kushwaha received a warm welcome from Associate Director Prof. D. Namgyal, along with teaching and non-teaching staff, Basic Horticulture Training (BHT) trainees, and farmers from Stok, Thiksey, Saboo, Shey, and Stakna villages. He was accompanied by Nawang Tundup, Registrar, University of Ladakh, and Prof. Deskyong Namgyal, Controller of Examinations, UoL.
The program began with a welcome speech by Prof. D. Namgyal, followed by a briefing on the training sessions by Dr. Deldan Namgial, Principal Investigator, PFDC Leh.
During the event, the Vice Chancellor distributed certificates to the BHT trainees and farmers from Stok and Stakna villages for successfully completing the one-week training program. He also engaged in an interactive session with the farmers, encouraging them to implement the knowledge gained during the training in their agricultural practices. Additionally, he emphasized the need to extend similar training programs to remote areas of Ladakh to benefit a larger farming community.
