DELHI :In a landmark recognition of exceptional bravery and dedication, five personnel of the Jammu and Kashmir Police have been awarded the prestigious Shaurya Chakra, marking a historic first in the annals of the force’s long-standing service to the nation.This unprecedented accolade, typically reserved for members of the three Defence services, highlights the extraordinary valor displayed by these officers. Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police (DGP) RR Swain expressed profound gratitude to President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for bestowing this honor upon his men.In a heartfelt statement, DGP Swain lauded the awarded officers, emphasizing the significance of their recognition. “For the first time since the establishment of J&K Police in 1873 and post-Independence, our personnel have been honored with the Shaurya Chakra. The five Shaurya Chakra recipients are:
Selection Grade 1.Constable Saifullah Qadri (posthumously): Recognized for his ultimate sacrifice in the face of grave danger, Qadri’s bravery stands as a beacon of courage for all.
2.SP Mohan Lal: His relentless dedication and fearless leadership have earned him this distinguished honor.
3.Sub-Inspector Amit Raina: Commended for his exceptional bravery and tactical acumen in high-stakes operations.
4.Sub-Inspector Feroz Ahmed: Celebrated for his gallantry and resolute commitment to duty under perilous conditions.
5.Constable Varun Singh: Acknowledged for his valor and selflessness in the face of imminent threats.
