The Traffic Police Department of Jammu has issued a public notice detailing traffic diversions and restrictions in light of the Nagar Kirtan procession organized to mark the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj. The event will take place on January 3, 2025, starting at 9:00 AM, with a route beginning at Gurudwara Sahib Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in Chand Nagar and culminating at Gurudwara Sri Singh Sabha Nanak Nagar.

Nagar Kirtan Route:
The procession will traverse several key locations, including:
– Swami Vivekananda Chowk
– Dogra Chowk
– Gandhi Nagar Hospital Road
– Bikram Chowk
– Baroda Chowk

– Khalsa Chowk, among others.
Traffic Restrictions and Diversions:
To ensure a smooth flow of traffic and avoid disruptions, the following measures will be implemented:
1.For Vehicles from Samba, Kathua, and Inter-state Routes:Diverted through Kunjwani bypass towards Nagrota and onwards.
2.For Vehicles from Poonch, Rajouri, and Akhnoor:Diverted through 4th Tawi Bridge/Bakshi Nagar Pulli.
3.For Vehicles from Indira Chowk:Directed towards JP Chowk and 4th Tawi Bridge or other routes depending on the procession’s location.
4.For Heavy Vehicles Bound for Katra, Udhampur, or Srinagar: Diverted from Kunjwani until the culmination of the procession.
5.Restrictions in Gandhi Nagar and Shastri Nagar: No vehicles will be allowed in interior lanes during the procession.
Jammu City Traffic Management:
Heavy vehicles will adopt Beli Charana Road and alternate routes to minimize congestion.
The flyover at Bikram Chowk will remain operational, but specific restrictions apply depending on the tail of the procession.
Timings and General Guidelines:
No trucks will be allowed entry into Jammu City from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
Movement on the procession route will be restricted dynamically based on its location.
Public is advised to cooperate with traffic police and plan alternate routes.
