Tirupati Prasadam Row: Will Examine And Take Suitable Action, Says Health Minister JP Nadda
Union Health Minister JP Nadda on Friday said that he had spoken with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and requested a full report on the Tirupati laddu issue.
During a press briefing on the Modi government’s 100-day achievements, JP Nadda addressed questions regarding adulteration in Tirupati Prasadam.
He said that the Centre would examine the matter once the comprehensive report is available and take appropriate action thereafter. “I will also speak with state regulators to investigate this issue. Suitable action will be taken in accordance with food safety standards. As of now, I have requested the report, and we will examine it.”
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had claimed that animal fat was used in making Tirupati laddus during the previous government, triggering a significant political controversy.
The Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) on Thursday accused Naidu of making “heinous allegations” for political gain, while the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) circulated a lab report to support Naidu’s claim.
