The five-day workshop-cum-training session on “Product Certification and Training for Women SHG Members”
under the RAMP Programme being organized by Industries & Commerce Department, UT Ladakh, in collaboration with the Food Safety Department, Ladakh and National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) Ladakh at the Conference Hall, District Industries Centre (DIC), Leh on the final day witnessed participation from MSMEs from different sectors such as Tourism, food processing and handicraft and handloom sectors.
Approximately 40 SHG members and MSME representatives from the food processing and other sectors participated in the programme.
Sh. Thinley Nurbu, Block Investigator District Industry Centre Leh welcomed the participants and briefed about the PMEGP and PMFME scheme. In the first half of the workshop the participants were taken for field visit to Centre of Excellence (CoE), Nimo established by Horticulture Department in collaboration with DIHAR. Sh. Gyalson, M/s Nubra Food Processing Unit explained the functioning of Machineries and processing of Seabuckthorn/apricot/tomato at the CoE, Nimo.
In the second half of the workshop, the participants were briefed about the RAMP scheme and its implementation by the State Project Implementation Unit RAMP Ladakh at the DIC Leh.
Sh. Tamchos Gurmet, Food Safety Department delivered an informative session on the importance of FSSAI registration and compliance with food safety standards. A live demonstration of the FSSAI registration process was conducted to facilitate practical understanding among participants.
Further participants were sensitised on the significance of branding, labelling, and packaging for value addition and improved market realisation of their products. Innovative approaches and success examples adopted by young entrepreneurs from Ladakh were shared to inspire and motivate the SHG members by Ms. Fariha Fatima, EDII Ladakh.
The workshop concluded with remarks by Sh. Mohd. Ashraf Bhatt, JKAS, Director, Industries and Commerce Department.
He highlighted that such capacity-building initiatives under the RAMP Programme aim to enhance competitiveness and formalization of local enterprises in Ladakh. The workshop concluded with interaction of the Director, Industries and Commerce Department with entrepreneurs and SHG members : Tsewang Namgyal Founder Rutsal Organics Leh and Ms. Kaneez Fatima SHG Kargil. The participants thanked the Director I&C and General Manager District Industry Centre Leh and Kargil for providing such intensive workshops for MSMEs under the RAMP.
The participants were also facilitated with on-spot UDYAM registration during the event.
The programme marks another significant step towards strengthening women-led enterprises and promoting formalization and quality compliance among MSMEs in UT Ladakh.
