Jammu : In a chilling and gruesome case that has sent shockwaves through the region, a retired couple from Udheywala Bohri, Jammu, were brutally murdered in their home earlier this week. The victims, a well-known elderly couple enjoying a peaceful retirement, were found dead in a horrific crime that has rattled the Bohri area.

The Jammu police have made a major breakthrough in the case by arresting the prime accused, Deepak Singh, in Punjab. Singh, who had been on the run since the brutal slayings, was apprehended in a swift operation following intense pressure and coordination between multiple agencies across state lines. The Murders: A Grisly Discovery :

Mystery shrouded the suspicious murder of a retired Principal and his wife in a house at Patta Bohri in the Jammu City outskirts on Saturday evening.Sanjay Chandel 61 and his wife Veena Devi , resident of 310-D, Master Lane, Patta Bohri, Jammu were found murdered suspiciously in their bedroom. “Sanjay Chandel has been apparently strangulated by some wire while his wife might have received some internal head injury during some scuffle,” an eye witness accompanying police team, said.

The crime was reported this evening when the couple didn’t responded to their daughter’s phone calls from Shimla, and a relative running a chemist shop in nearby area was asked to check, police said. Both were found dead and three cups of tea were found on the table while the LPG gas stove was on which was immediately put off.

The couple had spoken to their elder daughter at London around 12 noon today. This means the crime took place in the afternoon, police suspects, adding around 5:00 PM police post Pouni Chak was informed when a relative checked their house.

Immediately the house was seized by a police team. Meanwhile, Chandel’s relatives and friends also reached at the spot. Dog squad and FSL teams were summoned. Police is also securitizing the CCTVs installed in neighbourhood.

The Manhunt for Deepak Singh :

Deepak Singh, a name now infamous in the region, was identified early on as the prime suspect. He had reportedly been in touch with the victims shortly before the crime and had fled the scene soon after. Singh, who has a questionable past, was traced to Punjab after investigators tracked his movements through various leads.

In a meticulously planned raid, the Punjab Police, acting on the information provided by their Jammu counterparts, swooped in on Singh’s hideout and apprehended him without major resistance. Sources say Singh was in the process of planning his escape to a distant state when law enforcement caught up with him. He has now been brought back to Jammu for questioning, and the investigation is expected to reveal more shocking details about the crime.
