Kathua: In a chilling ambush on Monday afternoon, terrorists unleashed a deadly attack on an Army convoy in the remote Machedi area of Kathua district, leaving five soldiers dead and five others critically injured. This brazen act of terror has sent shockwaves through the region, prompting an immediate and robust security response along the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The assault occurred as the convoy traversed the rugged terrains of Kathua, catching the soldiers off-guard. The ensuing encounter between the troops and the terrorists is still ongoing, with security forces relentlessly pursuing the assailants.
In the aftermath of the attack, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and Jammu and Kashmir police personnel have been deployed along NH44 in Udhampur. This heightened security presence coincides with the passage of the 11th batch of Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, ensuring their safety amidst growing concerns of further terrorist activities.
To bolster security, multi-layered arrangements have been meticulously implemented. These measures are part of a broader strategy to protect pilgrims and residents from the escalating threat of terrorism.

“A Region Under Siege: Recent Terror Attacks Raise Alarms”
Since June 9, Jammu and Kashmir have been grappling with a series of terror strikes across Reasi, Kathua, and Doda. These coordinated attacks have resulted in the deaths of nine pilgrims and a CRPF jawan, while a civilian and at least seven security personnel have sustained injuries.
The persistent threat of terrorism has necessitated a comprehensive review of the security landscape. Union Home Minister Amit Shah recently chaired a critical meeting to address the escalating violence. He directed all security agencies to “work in a mission mode and ensure quick response in a coordinated manner,” emphasizing the need for unity and vigilance in combating terror.
“Defiance in the Face of Terror: Security Forces Stand Firm”

With multi-layered security measures in place and a collective commitment from various agencies, the aim is clear: to ensure the safety and security of every citizen and pilgrim. The ongoing efforts underscore a broader strategy of resilience and determination in the face of persistent terror threats.
