DIG JKS Range Evaluates Readiness Amid Rising Threats

SAMBA/KATHUA : In light of the evolving security challenges in Jammu and Kashmir, particularly following heightened cross-border concerns and terrorist threats, the police are intensifying their counter-terrorism efforts across key districts. Today, the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of the Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JKS) Range, Shiv Kumar, IPS, led a comprehensive security review across Samba and Kathua districts to ensure vigilance and preparedness.
Key Highlights from the Security Review:
1. Meeting with Police and Special Operations Group (SOG) Units
DIG Shiv Kumar met with senior police officers, including SDPOs and SHOs, to assess their readiness for anti-terrorist operations.
The focus of the review was to evaluate operational preparedness, coordination among security units, and quick response mechanisms for handling any potential threats.
2.Visits to Key Locations in Samba District:
The DIG visited AIIMS Vijaypur, Samba town, and other strategic locations** to monitor security arrangements.
He was accompanied by senior officials, including SSP Vinay Kumar, ASP Garu Ram, DSP Rohit, and SDPO Mukund, IPS, emphasizing inter-departmental coordination.
3.Border Security and Interstate Checkpoints:
A high-level review was conducted at BSF posts in Paharpur (Kathua district), focusing on border vigilance along the Punjab-Jammu interstate boundary.
In the Kathua sector, SSP Shobit Saxena, ASP Rahul Charak, and DSP Tilak Raj Bhardwaj joined the DIG to assess security protocols in border areas and police checkpoints.
4. Instructions from DGP Nalin Parbhat, IPS:
DIG Shiv Kumar conveyed specific instructions from DGP Nalin Parbhat to ensure heightened alertness:
All security arrangements must remain on high alertin view of ongoing threats.
Joint operations with the Army and CRPF should be intensified, particularly in forest regions where terrorist presence has been detected.
Regular checking and searches in crowded markets, bazaars, and public areasare mandatory to prevent untoward incidents, especially with upcoming festivals.
Officers at all levels, including SSPs, ASPs, SDPOs, and SHOs, were instructed to enhance surveillance and border patrols to block any infiltration attempts.
