JAMMU: In a concerted effort to ensure peace and security in Jammu city during the festive and tourist season, senior police officials conducted a comprehensive security review on Wednesday. The inspection was led by DIG JKS Range Shiv Kumar (IPS), along with SSP Jammu Joginder Singh (JKPS), SP North Vivek Shekhar, SP Operations Kameshwar Puri, SDPO City Devinder Singh, and DySPs Sunil Jasrotia and Sahil Mahajan. They were joined by SHOs and In-charge Police Post (IC PPs) of the old city areas.

The team inspected critical areas of the city, including:

– Link Road

– Parade Ground

– Raghunath Bazar

– Gumat Market

– Hari Market

– Jewel Chowk

– Nobawad

The review also included checks on lanes, bylanes, hotels, bus stands, and other public places to ensure comprehensive coverage of potential hotspots for criminal or suspicious activities.

Purpose of the Review

1.Prevention of Security Threats: The primary focus was on identifying and mitigating any potential security threats, particularly during times of increased foot traffic in the markets.

2.Public Awareness: The team interacted with local market association members, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in maintaining security.

3.Surveillance Boost: Instructions were issued for intensified surveillance, especially in crowded areas and around sensitive locations.

Action Plan and Directives

DIG Shiv Kumar was briefed by SSP Joginder Singh and SP-level officers regarding the deployment of personnel and the execution of security strategies.

Enhanced patrolling and CCTV monitoring were highlighted as priorities.

The public was urged to report any suspicious individuals or activities to the nearest police station or post.

During their interaction with market associations and shopkeepers, the officers encouraged active participation in security measures. This collaboration aims to build trust and ensure quick information sharing.
