S. Karan Singh Wazir Chairman of All J&K Transport Welfare Association seeks blessings of Mahant Manjit Singh Ji, Vows to Uphold His Father’s Legacy.
JAMMU: In a significant and symbolic gesture, S. Karan Singh Wazir, the newly selected Chairman of the All J&K Transport Welfare Association, paid his respects at the revered Gurudwara Sant Mela Singh Digiana Ashram in Jammu. He sought blessings from Mahant Manjit Singh Ji of Dera Nangali Sahib, underscoring his commitment to addressing the longstanding issues faced by the region’s transport sector. With an unwavering focus on welfare, Wazir promised a transformative approach to bring relief and growth for transport operators in Jammu and Kashmir.
As he stood before Mahant Manjit Singh Ji, Wazir shared his recent discussions with prominent political figures, including Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Transport Minister Satish Sharma, in his quest to voice the concerns of transporters. He candidly expressed his resolve to tackle challenges that have lingered, particularly those affecting truckers, bus operators, minibus drivers, tipper owners, matador operators, and even the smaller yet essential Auto and E-rickshaw communities.
During their meeting, Wazir outlined his frustration over two years of unfulfilled promises made to the transport sector. “The welfare of our transporters has been ignored,” he said emphatically. “For two years, our issues have remained on paper – mere formalities that result in photo-ops without substantial outcomes. This has to change, and I assure you that I will make it my mission to bring real solutions.”
Alongside the blessings, Wazir received a powerful reminder from Mahant Manjit Singh Ji to carry forward the legacy of his father, S. Tarlochan Singh Wazir, a highly respected figure among the transport community. Mahant Ji offered his heartfelt support, praising the Wazir family’s unwavering dedication to the transport sector and recognizing the deep connection between the Sikh community and the transportation trade. “The Sikh community has a long-standing bond with this sector,” Mahant Ji remarked, encouraging Wazir to strengthen this legacy and work tirelessly for the well-being of transport operators across the state.
The new chairman, joined by a team of prominent transporters—including Chief Patron S Mohinder Singh , Shri Vijay Chib, President of the Oil Tankers Association S. Ranjit Singh, and transport leaders like Shri Bharat Bhushan , S Balbir Singh Vice Chairman and Labh Singh tresurer acknowledged that he held the “unconditional support” of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries and the Bar Association of J&K. Additionally, he highlighted the solidarity extended by transport operators in the Kashmir Valley, promising to unify the transport community across the region.
To bring efficiency to his mission, Wazir announced plans to form a core committee within the All J&K Transporters Welfare Association in the coming days. This committee, he emphasized, would be responsible for handling issues professionally, cutting through bureaucratic stagnation, and ensuring each stakeholder’s needs are addressed. He described this step as crucial to establishing an active, engaged framework that would directly address the sector’s critical demands rather than relying on superficial interventions.
Reflecting on the deep-rooted values passed down by his father, Wazir spoke of his role as a custodian of the “bouquet” his father had cultivated within the transport community. “The sapling of transporters’ welfare planted by my father has now flourished into a beautiful bouquet. I will cherish it with the same love, dedication, and commitment he showed,” he assured Mahant Ji.
With the blessings of Mahant Manjit Singh Ji and strong support from prominent stakeholders, S. Karan Singh Wazir’s leadership marks a pivotal moment for the transport fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir. As he steps into his role, there is hope and anticipation that he will steer the association toward tangible progress, translating promises into action and creating an environment where every transporter feels represented, valued, and empowered.
This new chapter for the All J&K Transport Welfare Association holds the potential to redefine the role of transport in the socio-economic landscape of the region. S. Karan Singh Wazir’s vow to honor his father’s legacy while championing the rights of all transport operators stands as a powerful commitment—a pledge to build a stronger, united future for the transport community across Jammu and Kashmir.
