Russian Deputy PM Manturov Meets PM Modi, Reviews Strategic Partnership

Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday and discussed ways to further strengthen the India-Russia strategic partnership.

During the meeting, Manturov briefed the Prime Minister on progress in key areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and economic partnership, fertilizers, connectivity, and people-to-people ties.

Prime Minister Modi recalled Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to India in December 2025 for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit and noted the progress made in implementing its outcomes.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the ongoing efforts by both countries to deepen their Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.

He also conveyed his warm greetings to President Putin and said he looked forward to continued engagement with the Russian leadership.

Earlier in the day, Manturov held talks with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, where both sides discussed strengthening trade and investment ties along with other issues of mutual interest.

Manturov arrived in New Delhi for high-level discussions covering defence, energy, trade and other bilateral areas. During his visit, he is also scheduled to hold consultations with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and participate in meetings under the India-Russia Intergovernmental framework.
