Reasi:In a significant breakthrough, the Jammu & Kashmir Police have arrested an Over Ground Worker (OGW) believed to be the prime suspect in facilitating and providing logistical support to militants involved in the recent Reasi Yatri bus attack.
SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma, along with Additional SP Iftikhar Ahmed ,Dysp HQ Neeraj Padyar and Dysp DAR Rohit Chadgal announced the arrest during a press conference, revealing critical details about the suspect and the ongoing investigation.
Arrest Details
The suspect, identified as Hakam Din, 40, son of M. A. Khan from Bandhrahi (Saida Nallha) in Rajouri District, was apprehended as part of the investigation under Case FIR No. 31/2024. The case includes charges under sections 302 (Murder), 307 (Attempt to Murder) of the Indian Penal Code, sections 7/27 of the Arms Act, and sections 16, 18, and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Role of the Suspect
Authorities disclosed that Hakam Din played a crucial role in harboring militants, offering them food and shelter, and guiding them to the attack site. SSP Reasi Mohita Sharma stated, “The arrested individual is a key OGW who facilitated the militants’ activities, significantly aiding them in executing the attack.”

The attack occurred on June 9, 2024, when militants targeted a bus carrying pilgrims from Shiv Khori in the Ransoo area of Reasi District. The assault caused the bus driver to lose control, resulting in the vehicle plunging into a deep gorge near Kanda area of Pouni. The tragic incident led to the deaths of nine people and injuries to 41 others.
