New Delhi : In a striking comment on the demeanor of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, Leader of the Opposition, voiced his concerns over what he described as the PM’s “serious” and unapproachable presence in Parliament.
Speaking on Monday, Gandhi noted, “PM Modi sits all serious in Parliament and does not even say ‘namaste’.” He elaborated on a personal experience from the same morning, stating, “This morning, Rajnath Singh greeted me well but it stops when PM Modi is around… (He becomes) serious, no smile.”
Gandhi’s remarks are part of a broader critique aimed at the Prime Minister, suggesting that Modi’s demeanor has created a pervasive atmosphere of fear within the parliamentary space and among his party members. According to Gandhi, this alleged shift in behavior is palpable and influences the general interactions in the Lok Sabha.
This assertion adds to the growing list of criticisms from opposition leaders who have often accused the Modi administration of fostering an environment where dissent is discouraged and open dialogue is stifled.
The issue raises questions about the interpersonal dynamics within India’s highest legislative body and the broader implications for democratic engagement. As the political discourse heats up, it remains to be seen how these accusations will shape the upcoming parliamentary sessions and the overall political climate in the country.
