Viksit Sankalp Abhiyaan Day 13 Empowers Farmers of border villages of Maan Pangong.
Day 13 of the Viksit Sankalp Abhiyaan was held at Maan Merak and Spangmik, led KVK Nyoma, and officials from Agriculture, Animal and Sheep Husbandry departments. Hon’ble Councillor (Chushul), Shri Konchok Stanzin has grace the occasion as chief guest.
Dr. Tundup highlighted KVK’s initiatives and horticulture schemes, while other departments shared livestock and agricultural interventions. Dr. Nasreen from Animal Husbandry focused on support for sheep rearers.
An interactive session saw active participation from 86 farmers, who raised concerns such as loss of pasture land, threats from stray dogs and wolves, grazing restrictions in Nak Lung Pa, and a need for an animal care unit. Farmers also sought horse breed improvement, stray dog control, yak shelters, and compensation for wild animal attacks.
Shri Stanzin emphasized agriculture as the region’s backbone, encouraged SHG-led income generation, and promoted organic farming. He also urged youth to preserve Changthang’s nomadic culture. The session concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Tashi, marking a successful outreach in the remote border region.
